Obama Inauguration : Woke up at 5:30am to hear that there are already mobs on the mall and in the metro and lines that go blocks. Found a spot half way down the mall. Nothing but happiness, smiles and cheers whenever Obama was spotted on the Orbitron. What an incredible day!! I feel so fortunate to have been there and thankful to have witnessed this in my lifetime. "We are one"

Obama's Inauguration Concert : Wow! I am glad I decided to witness this historic event, once in a lifetime. Decision was made Thursday night while attending the MLK Celebration at Morehouse with the Atlanta Symphony and glee clubs from Spelman and Morehouse. As I chatted with the woman next to me, a Spelman graduate she mentioned she had to leave at intermission to pack to go to DC. We discussed what an incredibly historic event this was and all of a sudden it occurred to me "why am I not going"? The night at Morehouse was all about how proud Lincoln and MLK would be to have seen this day. They had given their lives for a day such as this. Checked mapquest, realized Monday was an official holiday, had a place to stay and off I headed at daybreak on Saturday. Barb and I headed to the Lincoln Memorial for the Sunday Inaugural Concert on the mall early in the morning with layers and layers to brave the 20 something degrees. Half a million people eventually ended up around the reflecting pool from the Lincoln to the Washington Memorial. Concert started at 2:30pm and what a list of performers and speakers. It was incredible! "We Are One"
